This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Twice per week, I have created a space for English Language Learners to come practice their English language skills with me after school hours. This space is open to all English Language Learners at my school. Each week, I am joined by a group of dedicated students eager to quickly improve their English language skills in addition to the ENL (English as a New Language) services they receive within the school day. This after school class is not required of any students; therefore, your donation will be going towards a group of hardworking students who truly want to improve their English. In this space, we focus on students' reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through various activities, games, and practice.
The resources I have requested for this project will be used in the following ways for our afterschool English Language Learning space:
Laptop: Students will use laptops to play games such as Kahoot and Blooket because their phones at times aren't compatible with certain websites. They will also use them for research, to watch videos, and general English Language Learning resources online.
Snacks/Cups: Students are often hungry and will need snacks and water while they stay to learn after school hours.
Laminator and Pouches: Students will create laminated word cards to practice their vocabulary words.
