My Students
Our classroom is a safe place for students to come and know that no matter what is going on in their life, it is a place where they will feel welcomed and accepted by everyone. The class is a mix of general education students, special education students, and students in need of Academic Intervention Services (AIS). These students come from a variety of economic backgrounds which means that the students come to us at many different levels. Our classroom design and learning experiences help students develop tolerance for people from all walks of life. Creating a positive and aesthetically pleasing learning environment contributes to the success of our students.
My Project
In my classroom, I have several interdisciplinary centers rotations throughout the year. The students visit a different center each day. The centers focus on skills that the students are learning about in all four of the content areas along with a small group instruction center in ELA and Math.
To ensure successful centers, they need to be designed so that students can complete them in a small group setting without a teacher directly overseeing each center.
The centers have printed directions that are placed in the plastic sign holders. I currently have the portrait orientation sign holders, but it would be very beneficial to have landscape orientation sign holders, too. Many of the centers integrate technology which sometimes requires students to share earbuds. The alcohol wipes are used to clean the earbuds to prevent the spread of germs. The storage containers will be used to store materials for centers or other classroom materials. My students really enjoy centers and each year I am always looking for ways to help them run even more smoothly. These materials will help with the organization of centers and I would greatly appreciate your support!
