Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our classroom project supplies are needed to extend the learning experience outside of just academic interactions. My students are from a range of backgrounds; primarily immigrants from Spanish speaking countries and the exchange between what is provided by the school and home, or behaviors that are acceptable in public are still being directly taught.
These specific items including the laminator and sharpener will add to the design and display of student creations as well as classroom labels, directions and supplemental aids.
The laminator will help the longevity of said materials. These items will ceate an environment that eases a childs transition into the academic setting. These supplies will bring everyone on the same playing field while fostering a happy and confident student.
We also have a young group of english as a second language students that are still learning the proper etiquette for classroom supplies and group social skills in a structured environment. That's why Kleenex, sanitizer and Pencils will help with differentiating between personal and public/ group norms and keeping healthy interactions in school.
The students gain supported direct instruction of class habits and respect of others culture as well as acquiring new setting skills by having access to these resources. In the future I'd like to expand this project to include goals and rewards for monitoring success.
