My Project

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students are a fun and optimistic group of special needs students, ages 5-12.

They enjoy learning; however they are delayed in the areas of basic academics, social skills and communication. Having the right resources will be able to bring out each and every student's individual voice and personality.

We need supplies in order to start off our school year on the right foot, including crayons, scissors, glue and pencils. In the beginning of every year, we make individualized materials for each of my students so that they are all able to learn on their own level helping them gain the skills they need to be successful in life. This year we will be making durable, personalized social story books for all of our students using the binding machine and card stock. The plastic bins, binder clips and file folders will help us stay organized and have all the materials for each of our students. Many of our students are not proficient at completing personal care tasks like toileting so the gloves and wipes will support safety precautions for staff and students.
