Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a determined, hard working, and hilarious bunch. Our days are filled with joy, laughter, and learning of course! Despite being a special education class, they do not let their disabilities get in the way of learning.
My students with disabilities come from a high poverty neighborhood in New York City, and most of them are ELLs, which means English is a second language or not spoken at home.
Despite these challenges, my students come to school everyday enthusiastic, ready to be leaders, and try their very best!
My Project
Our students need basic school supplies to set them up for a successful year. Many of our families struggle, and I hope to lighten the financial burden on them. Pencils, erasers, and glue sticks are a necessity and always run out mid year. Labels, Velcro, tape, and markers are important for keeping organized and neat in our classroom. This creates a fun, engaging, and welcoming learning environment. We can use a paper cutter to easily cut out centers, activities, and worksheets for students. Clips, magnets, and hooks will store student activities and work in an easy to use way that they can easily access.
