Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Reggio Emilia inspired school, which serves a diverse community of 3-5 year olds. My classroom is a blended classroom of 30 amazing students, many of whom are diverse learners and English language learners. When they come to school each day, they are excited and ready to play and learn.

Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity.” -Kay Redfield Jamison. My students are eager to learn and to explore through different types of material and play. Wonderful donors like you make it possible for teachers like me to offer a variety of tools and materials to play and learn.

My Project

As we prepare to head back into the classroom, things will be much different. Our usual opportunities for play and work will be constructed in a new way. Some items will have to be put away and other items will be used, but must be used by one student at a time and must be cleaned twice a day.

The items on this DonorsChoose list will allow for our students to be able to work and play safely within the classroom.

The plastic trays will give students a defined area to play in. The plastic clipboards will give students their own writing space. The plastic links will be split so each child has a set to play with. The cleaning solution will help us keep these and other items in the room sanitized. Finally, the Emotions journal will help us continue our work with our students' social-emotional health and growth. That is very important during this very challenging time.
