Supplies For A Great Year In Kindergarten

Help me give my students Magna-Tiles, lap boards, and a variety of school supplies needed for a successful year in kindergarten.

My Students

Our Title I school is located in a very diverse neighborhood in Brooklyn. My students are 5 years-old. They are an enthusiastic and hard-working bunch. The spectrum of developmental levels in kindergarten is vast, and I am working hard to meet the needs of all my students. Many of my kindergarteners are growing up in low-income homes and do not have access to the learning materials at home needed to promote their academic growth.

Regardless of the challenges they face, my students are highly motivated and love coming to school.

They look forward to playing, making art, learning to read and all the other wonderful things the world of kindergarten has to offer.

My Project

As a kindergarten teacher, I strive to provide the best all-around education for my students. Many parents in our school can't afford to purchase supplies needed for the school year. I am reaching out to DonorsChoose.org for a variety of supplies such as pencils, dry-erase markers and slates, paint, play-doh, and art paper. All these supplies are essential for a successful year in kindergarten. For example, dry erase markers and slates are great for fun and easy way for children to practice their penmanship, spelling, drawing, math, etc. I am also asking for a set of Magna-Tiles to replace cracked and broken pieces in our classroom set.

It would be great to have all these materials at the beginning of the year so my students can draw, paint, write and create on the first day of Kindergarten.

With your help, my students will have enough supplies to last us through the year.
