This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am fortunate to be the teacher of a wonderful group of eager-to-learn first graders at an inner city Title I school in Los Angeles. Most of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of the students are also learning English as a second language.

My students come to school every day wanting to learn and work hard.

I want to be able to give them the opportunities and resources they desire and are necessary to help them achieve whatever dream they have for themselves.

My Project

My project will provide basic cleaning supplies to our classroom to keep it clean and fight those germs so we can focus on learning!

Students function BEST in a clean environment.

My school has an incredibly hard-working custodial staff but due to budget cuts, they do not have time to clean our classrooms daily or the budget to provide cleaning supplies.

We eat breakfast every morning in the classroom via the Breakfast in the Classroom program. The safe, botanical wipes will provide a sanitary desk on which to eat. The Swiffer Sweeper Wet Mop will allow for regular mopping to keep the floors clean as well as any accidental spills. We are located in an area that generates a lot of dust into our classroom. The Swiffer Dusters will help keep that in control and help mitigate any students' adverse reactions to dust. We currently have one wastebasket and it's nearing the end of its life. The paper towels, broom and wastebaskets will help keep our classroom tidy on a daily basis.

It's clearly important for students to be in school every day. When they are sick, they are at home and not learning. Your donation will help me provide a cleaner environment so they are able to stay in school and learn!
