This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach in a primarily immigrant and working-class neighborhood in Los Angeles. My students come from supportive families who are involved and concerned. Some of my students are above grade level, some are on grade level, and some are struggling readers. Even with all this diversity, my second graders have one thing in common: they all love learning!
Since my class will start in August, I am requesting a few more materials my students will need to start the year.
I am requesting Crayola markers, Sharpie markers, and a large Post-it Easel Pad. Every morning I use the markers to make different charts in Language Arts, Math, and other subjects. I make the charts visually appealing and refer to them throughout the day. I usually leave these charts up so my students can also go back to them if needed. The students can also use these markers to illustrate their work in math and language arts.
I have also requested a new Welcome chart for my door and a new teacher plan book. These last items will help me be prepared and organized for the new school year.
