This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 27 eager first-grade students who enjoy learning how to read, write, and do the math. Our awesome school is located in Southern California. My first graders come to school ready to learn each day. We need basic supplies to start our new school year.

My students range from gifted and talented to below grade level.

We are proud to be a Nationally Recognized School of Excellence and have won many prestigious awards. Since we are not a Title I school, funding extra projects are very difficult!

My Project

I am excited to meet my students on the first day of school! My students would love to paint with watercolors but many of the colors are missing. We need 30 watercolor refills to paint masterpieces this year! My students have individual reading goals in my classroom. My students would read more books if they could put on a finger light and read in the dark. I think this would give the students a different but fun reading experience. After reading each book two times, they would take a computer comprehension quiz. I am also requesting an iPad charging station to clean up the wire mess we currently have in the classroom. I also have many engaging books on the iPad. For this reason, I am requesting a bluetooth wireless speaker that will work with all the technology in my classroom. Finally, I am requesting lanyards to hold their Brag Tags (A tiny, laminated award explaining a positive experience or goal they earned).
