Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My student look forward to leaving their homes and coming to school. Currently my classroom has boards scribbled with crayon, covered in tape, and physically scratched. They look unsightly and cannot be taken down due to asbestos contamination. I plan to cover these with cork using the supplies in this project to make bulletin boards so that students can walk into a cheery room with word walls to support their learning. I also want to integrate some baby chicks for a time so that they can learn about the life cycle.
I have found that students do better, work harder, and feel better when in clean, beautiful, organized rooms that support their learning.
The world wall will do just that. Further having exposure to a class pet, even for a short time has had my students engage in the class when they otherwise would not. This supports their emotional well being and desire to come to school
