Passion and resilience are not simple words when it comes to my students. Each student in my classroom embodies those words. They have a passion for learning, and taking ownership of their learning is highly stressed and modeled each day. As cliche as it sounds, my students are "bright-eyed and bushy tailed" in that they are eager to learn. They bring such life to the classroom with their uniqueness and organic love.
My students are a resilient group.
I ensure that they know that what they are learning will not always be easy, but the expectation is to never quit. We have a growth mindset in my classroom, one in which the students have integrated into their daily language. As we love to say, "We came through dripping, thou it may be hard we're never quitting". My students push through in all they do, and strive for their very best.
Our school building is newly established and is entering it's second year. With that said, while some materials are provided we are greatly in need of classroom materials as these often run out as we get to the middle and ending of the school year. Having classroom materials will help each student focus on what's important and that is learning.
My students will benefit from these classroom materials as they will be utilized everyday to enhance instruction and learning, and enable students to complete tasks.
Materials such as dry erase boards helps for more hands-on learning in which students can work through and solve math problems clearly. Students typically get frustrated when they have to erase and make corrections in notebooks. The regrouping math kits will provide additional practice during math workshop centers for students, and provide more concrete hands-on experience. Notebooks, pencils, erasers and chart paper will help students to have the needed materials for notes, solving different math problems, and create interactive notebooks. Rulers are a great tool during our geometry and measurement units. Students get to practice different unit of measures as they make estimates and actual measurement for a variation of objects.
My students will benefit from the storage cubby so they are able to organize the folders and notebooks in an neat manner. This will help with the organization and smooth transitions prior and post instruction.
