This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Tell me and I forget, show me and I am remember, involve me and I'll understand." Reaching different types of learning styles can be a difficult task. Making sure students have the appropriate materials to demonstrate what they've learned is one of my top priorities.

Our school serves hundreds of curious minds everyday.

They all come from economically disadvantaged homes. We have about 70% Hispanic students and about 30% African American students. Many of the Hispanic students are English Language Learners and it is my goal to find different ways to teach the different levels of learning in my science class.

My Project

My students need writing utensils, paper, and glue to get them started on all hands-on projects, activities, and daily requirements for the year. This past year I learned that visual representations helped with learning new vocabulary and concepts. I am hoping that by receiving these simple items, students will be able to create charts, visual representations, and in-class projects. If I am able to provide these materials, students do not have to worry about finding their own resources. I want them to know they can come and help themselves to any materials needed.

I want every student to be successful in my science class.

These materials that I am asking for will allow students to take as they need in order to be successful. If I am able to offer materials, students should have no excuse for being unprepared. Preparedness leads to success. No student should worry about not having supplies.
