My Students
I've always loved math. The way my math teachers explained new concepts and introduced new ideas made me realize that math is fun! Today, I try to get my students to come to that same realization. Math is great! And it's nothing to be afraid of.
I am constantly coming up with ways to make my kids see just how fun and easy math really is.
Every beginning of the school year, I get students who come in saying they hate math or that it's their least favorite subject. But just a couple weeks into the year, their perceptions change. Fun stations, engaging activities, and plenty of opportunities to work with their peers all contribute to their increased love of math.
My hope is that I can continue to find new and exciting ways to make learning fun for my kids.
My Project
The drawer system that I'm requesting for my students will help provide a space for them to access all their station work. It will allow them to quickly locate the station work they need when they're in a specific center. I'm trying to teach my students the important skill of self-management, and this storage system, once clearly labeled, will help them get there.
My students love their math stations, but sometimes it takes them a while to get started, especially when station work has been moved.
Once we practice putting everything where it goes, this system will make stations so much more organized! My students will be able to quickly get situated, thus getting so much more meaningful math time.
I have also requested large student whiteboards. These whiteboards are about 50% bigger than the ones at their desk, so they'll be perfect for our guided math lessons in small group. The other side of the whiteboard has a large graphing space, which will come in handy once we start our coordinate planes unit in just a few short weeks! It'll also provide a great space for those students who struggle with the neatness of their numbers.
Thank you for helping my students' stations become more organized!
