This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a 3rd year special education teacher working in an inner city school district. My school is a Title I school with approximately 1,100 students in PK-8th grade. I teach eight students with Autism in a self-contained classroom, grades 4-7. My students have a wide range of abilities academically,
This will make the difference in the lives of the students in my room.
Some have limited reading skills, and communication and to have materials that will help speak will bring smiles to their faces and help in their communication skills.
The assessment kit will serve as a tool to help enhance the students development in cognitive skills and assess their strengths and weaknesses.
My Project
These materials will help the students in my classroom with autism who are non-verbal to be able to communicate with their peers and teachers in the classroom. The PECS will build on their social and communication skills.
The VB-MAPP ASSESSMENT KIT will help to test and assess the students cognitive skills, language development and serve as a way to develop their goals and objectives.
I know that with these materials my students will be ready for to be able to communicate with their peers and teachers and develop language acquisition skills and help test their cognitive and language abilities.
