My Students

My classroom consists of 20 fun, sweet, and loving second graders on varying skill levels. They are full of energy and love learning through hands-on, real-life experiences. They are all so different and unique and their qualities are revealed in different ways every, single day! One thing they all have in common is a love for learning! My students come from many different economic backgrounds, where many of them do not have access to materials at home. However, every single one of them loves when we do hands on activities in the classroom.

My Project

We would love to have new, engaging literature in our classroom to continue to create a love for reading while learning and developing new concepts for a strong reading foundation. It is critical that we have these read-alouds that cater to different learning standards such as main idea, plot, and character point of view.

We will be able to develop core fundamental skills in phonics, fluency, and comprehension as well as develop strategies and skills that students will continue to use for the rest of their educational career and future.

The use of new and updated stories and topics provide engaging opportunities to connect the text to real life situations and create discussions that enrich critical thinking skills. Students will also be able to use the sets of books to respond to reading through writing, illustrating, and editing.
