My Students
We are on a traditional calendar schedule. I teach at a public school in Utah. Students take pride in their work in and out of the classroom. My students come from a wide range of economic and social backgrounds. They also have a wide range of parental support at home. Most students walk or are driven to school. We do not have bus transportation to our school. Our school has a wide range of scholastic achievement too. We have classrooms that service the needs of intellectually challenged and enhanced scholastic ability too. I teach in a general education classroom.
My Project
My goal is to create an area in the classroom that will allow students to develop their creativity and problem solving skills.
By creating a STEM center, my students will be able to think divergently, creatively, imaginatively, and inventively.
These centers will be full of a variety of tools and materials that will allow them to broaden their thinking and problem solving skills.
The materials we will need include: magnetic tiles, building blocks, brain flakes, wooden planks, Velcro, building, foam balls, toothpicks, plus plus blocks, dominoes and pattern blocks. As well as containers to store and organize these materials for easy access.
