My Project

As research findings support, comfort and the freedom to move are critical components to student learning success! Therefore, as a teacher, I do everything I can to make the physical environment of my classroom as comfortable and flexible as possible. This starry night air tent and fan will help me to accomplish this goal!

All students, even those who have learning difficulties and extraordinary personal challenges, can realize educational success when they are mentally motivated, emotionally supported, and physically comfortable.

Students thrive in learning environments where they feel safe, nurtured, respected, and comfortable! Having alternative seating while they work is an important part of a student's comfort. This is especially important for students who are foster children, have suffered abuse or neglect, have transferred schools multiple times, come from disadvantaged backgrounds or have severe academic, social or physical challenges. A considerable body of research about environmental design shows the positive effect comfort can have on learning, human productivity, and creativity. Comfort is now a priority, everywhere...except school. With this starry night air tent in my classroom, I can create a pleasantly comfortable work environment for my students. All students are more productive and spend more time on task when they can move to comfortable seats. Plus, students who feel anxious while they work enjoy being able to stretch their legs and move to alternative seating to release their anxiety.

There's no longer any justification for the lack of comfort in classrooms! I want 'comfortable' to be among the adjectives used to describe my classroom. This starry night air tent and the box fan to inflate it will help facilitate the physical well-being of my students, as well as their continued educational accomplishments and success!
