This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our scholars are some of the hardest working students in Chicago! Every day they come into our school with a bright face and are eager to learn. They work to show our respect and responsibility through their academic work and receive constant praise for their growth and achievement.
Located on South Side of Chicago, our scholars show bravery each and every day.
Through the hard work of the teachers and staff, we firmly believe that all of our scholars can use their rigorous academic achievements to become leaders of our world.
My Project
Our students are working to read and spell new words everyday! On average, 1st graders can learn and remember up to 200 words per year. To help them grow and learn, we are requesting hands-on materials so students can move them around to practice spelling new words.
In a new age of whole brain teaching, these kinesthetic materials will help students to internalize each letter and word in a new way.
More than just writing with pencil and paper, students will be able to easily manipulate and change the letters to make new words or words with the same word parts. We believe that this will truly help our scholars become better readers and spellers!
