This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are bright, kind, imaginative, and eager learners! I love learning how their minds work! For the new school year I would like to create two new areas to our classroom. Well, the first area is more of a concept, flexible seating. The lap desks will be used daily so that my students will be able to choose the most comfortable place in our classroom for them to learn. The students will be able to utilize the lap desks for a variety of daily classroom activities.

The second area I would love to create for my students creating is a Cozy Corner.

The purpose of the Cozy Corner is for students to have a place to go for emotional regulation, take a break, breathe, play with a sensory toy, or read a book. The Vibrating Pillow, Sensory Tubes, Colors and Shapes Sensory Pad, Zuri & Dre Dolls, and Calming Corner Toys will encourage students to regulate their emotions in a positive way with bright, and thoughtfully crafted social emotional toys. The Social Emotional hardcover books will be a great addition to our library and Cozy Corner, the books will engage student learning through rich illustrations and stories.

The Feelings and Emotions Toolbox, and Bi-Lingual Feelings Flipchart will be used daily during circle time to encourage an understanding of different emotions, and a positive way to feel them. The Affirmation Chips For Mirror will be used daily as my students enter the classroom. Each student will choose an affirmation and together we will read it out loud, each student will place their "chip" on the Plastic Mirror Sheets, and that will be their affirmation for the day! "What WE Think WE Become!"
