Help me give my students a soprano glockenspiel and mallets to participate in Orff exploration in music class!
This project expired on April 2, 2020.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are a very diverse group of children with one thing in common, they all attend an urban, public Montessori school. Sixty percent of the students qualify for free lunch and eighty percent of the students are a racial minority.
We follow the teachings of Maria Montessori to meet the needs of the whole child - physically, emotionally, cognitively, and spiritually through following and allowing the child to guide his or her learning.
I am fortunate to be in a school that sees music as an integral part of the child's development and encourages musical growth and expression.
We've been creating musical arrangements for the songs we are singing in music class! It has been really fun to add drums, maracas, bells, and other instruments to what we are learning. Where we could use some more assistance is with our Orff instruments. They often provide the chordal structure to our music and we are short several xylophones in our pursuit to accompany our songs.
My students love music and love playing instruments!
Having good quality instruments to play in class is important to their musical development. This soprano xylophone will provide an opportunity for my students to make more music every time they come to music class!
