Our class consists of twenty-two eager students that enjoy learning. We are located in Nebraska and are proud to be part of the public schools. We are a suburban school that does not receive funding from other programs, like Title I for example, which makes our school budget tight.
Despite being in a suburban school, our students come from a variety of backgrounds.
There are students with family serving in the military, students who are English language learners, students with special needs and many more. We are a diverse group of learners.
My Project
There are many main core areas that my students work on daily. In addition to these core subjects, I like to educate my students on being emotionally and socially balanced. I try to incorporate character education lessons within our daily routine. One way I like to do this is with mentor texts. Many of the books I am requesting are from the author Julia Cook. Julia Cook writes books that appeal to young students and teach the whole child. Some of the titles I am requesting from her are about accepting feedback, not teasing, taking ownership, not tattling, how to play with others and making friends. In addition to a few of her books, I am requesting the building empathy book set from Lakeshore Learning. These books will help students sympathize with others.
Our class also has a positive behavior system in place to motivate positive Character Education.
I love to reward my students on their accomplishments. My class needs prizes to go along with our class character education rewards system. Students that are exhibiting positive behavior receive prizes. The items I am requesting will help keep them working towards a goal. The yo yo assortment, key chains, small toys, emoji trinkets, bracelets, squishy toys, fidget twisters and emoji bags will provide motivation for our students. The colored paper will be made into coupons that students can earn for privileges around the room. Thank you so much for your support with our super sonic students!
