This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach bilingual pre-k students in an industrial suburb near Houston, Texas. My students have many challenges including financial uncertainty. However, they are eager to come to school to learn and play. It is important for me to get them the resources they need to be the best learners they can be. I know that, with a little support, my students will thrive.
Our young pre-k students have a very early lunch and need a small snack in the afternoon to give them the energy to keep learning.
I have requested some of my students' favorite treats such as granola bars, Oreos, and fruit snacks, so I am sure even my fussy eaters will have something to eat.
Snack time is a fun and educational opportunity for my students. We like to incorporate math concepts such as counting, graphing, and sorting.
We have previously asked the parents to provide a snack for the entire class numerous times throughout the school year. This school year, I am requesting snacks to reduce the financial stress on the families.
