I am so excited and feel extremely grateful to be starting my first year as a VPK teacher/director. I love working with preschoolers, and seeing how their eyes light up when I have taught them something new. I have two classes, a morning session and an afternoon session giving me a total of 40 students. Each and every one of them are special and silly in their own unique way. They are so eager every day to learn new things and be a part of the fun and exciting activities. Giving them a great first experience to school is one of my biggest goals. When they find out that learning is fun, they are excited to come to school every day. I believe this excitement for learning will create future academic success.
My Project
My classroom needs new stacking chairs that is rust free and the appropriate height. Currently, all the chairs in my classroom are older chairs that have seen better days. Not only are they rusting so badly that they stain the floors, but they are all mixed sizes.
There are 4 different heights of chairs and not enough chairs that are the appropriate height for growing preschoolers.
A large number of the seating is very small, which is suitable at the beginning of school. Unfortunately, the students quickly outgrow them and there are not enough chairs that are appropriate height to accommodate all the students. It is very important that children have the right sized chair, it makes a big impact on how well a student focuses and learns.
