My 35 students need 10 pieces of choral music and 2 accompaniment CDs for the after school choir this year.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Anderson's classroom raised $788

This project is fully funded

This year will be my third year teaching music to 350 students in a large urban school district. The school is a Title I school. Most of the students are on the free lunch/breakfast program, and many students stay for the after school enrichment program. Although I teach elementary general music, I am also a highly experienced choral teacher. I spend much of my time in the evenings preparing choral lessons for the choir, in addition to general music lessons.

We have had a wonderful 2 years in music at my school!!! When I started at the school, there was no choral program. We started the choir with no money, no materials and no choir uniform. We limped through the first year, but the students learned a lot and loved producing beautiful music. The second year brought many new students to the choir, in addition to the older students who were still attending the school. We began the first step of building our choral library and had a private donation to help us get choir t-shirts. We are still a "baby" choir. It will take at least 5 years of building a choral library before we have enough music to start reusing. Seven students tried out for the State Elementary Honors Chorus, and two students were selected to sing in the School District Elementary Honors Chorus. I see many opportunities for these students to reach great goals and go many places. The skills they are developing well help them to advance.

We just need the resources to keep building this wonderful choral program we have. Please help us by providing 10 pieces of music for 35 students, and 2 accompaniment CDs.

These students have talent and desire, but they lack many community resources that other students sometimes take for granted. I give my after school free time to these students to give them an opportunity they otherwise would not have. Please help my students find their voice and discover a passion!!!
