Help me give my students a place to sit during small group instruction time. They need stools that will easily fit around my reading table that the students can comfortably enjoy while learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. I have second-language learners, native English speakers, autistic students, struggling readers, avid readers, ADD and ADHD students, and students from low and middle-class families.
At my school, we believe in "no excuses!" My students know that wherever they come from has little bearing on where they're going.
It is up to them and the choices they make to help them succeed. We have high academic and behavior expectations and they rise to meet the challenges set before them.
My Project
Every week I meet with my students in small groups. We meet for math, reading, writing, and sometimes just to talk. I've had the same $5 Ikea stools for six years now and they're in pretty rough shape. I started with a set of twelve and I'm down to four. Those four are just barely passable as stools because the part of the stool that the children sit on is now only attached by one or two little pegs. During groups, four students sit on the stools and two either kneel on the floor, stand, or drag their own chair over from their desk.
My students need a place to sit during small group instruction.
The current situation we have is not very safe and it's only a matter of time until all the stools become completely unusable. The stools I have selected for this project are high quality, built to last, comfortable, space efficient, and help fidgety students concentrate.
These stools will allow my students to comfortably sit around our reading table. They will help some of my more active students to focus and they will support students at our central place of learning. Your support of this project will help significantly improve my students' learning experience.
