We have been enjoying BrainPop so much in my classroom. This is such a wonderful resource for my students. We have watched various videos for math to help my students better understand difficult concepts (like fractions, measurement, and division concepts). \r\n We have also enjoyed using the videos to better understand what we are studying in history. Students get a lot more background knowledge to better understand different time periods. BrainPop does such a nice job visually explaining the concepts. Right now, as you see in the photos, we are studying the California Missions. My students were able to better grasp the overall timing of the missions so they can conduct more research for a project they are working on in class. \r\n We will continue using BrainPop to help with other subject areas throughout the year, including writing, reading, science and any other topics that come up. For many of them, these were the very first books they felt confident exploring on their own.\r\n\r\nSince adding these board books to our classroom, reading time has become one of the happiest parts of our day. Students cozy up with Eric Carle, giggle at the Pigeon books, practice counting with the math sets, and explore animals and nature through the National Geographic titles. I've watched students who were hesitant to pick up books suddenly choose reading during free choice. One student proudly announced, \"I can read it by myself!\" as he pointed to familiar words and pictures—a moment I'll never forget.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped me create a nurturing, literacy-rich environment for my youngest learners. These books are now used during morning soft starts, small group lessons, quiet corners, and even as calming tools when someone needs a moment to regroup. Our next steps include using the books for theme-based units and building early comprehension skills through picture walks and retelling activities. When the materials first arrived, my second graders could hardly wait to dig in. Their excitement filled the classroom as they rolled, molded, and shaped their very first creations. Last year, we used the clay to support our science lessons—making insects with three body parts as we studied their anatomy, and later creating birds as part of our unit on animals. The clay turned abstract concepts into hands-on learning experiences that my students could see, touch, and proudly share with each other.\r\n\r\nSince then, I've transitioned from teaching second grade to teaching TK, and the clay has continued to make an incredible impact with even more students. My TK students have used the clay to shape bright red apples, and they're already looking forward to making pumpkins in October. These moments have brought so much joy into our classroom, while also strengthening fine motor skills, sparking creativity, and giving young learners an outlet to express themselves in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has reached far beyond just one class—it has touched the lives of multiple groups of students across grade levels, fostering creativity and a love of learning in each one. Thank you for believing in the power of hands-on learning and for helping my students calm, create, and be inspired through clay.","fullyFundedDate":1746901790610,"projectUrl":"project/calm-create-and-inspire-clay-for-sec/9056599/","projectTitle":"Calm, Create, and Inspire: Clay for Second Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Freitas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp134115_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1536958141241","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/erinfreitas"},{"teacherId":134115,"projectId":9284779,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my TK classroom has been transformed into a place of imagination, creativity, and joyful learning! The day the materials arrived, my students' eyes lit up with excitement. They immediately began exploring — building tall towers with the blocks, cooking up pretend meals in our play kitchen, and carefully caring for the baby dolls as if they were real. One sweet moment I'll never forget was when a small group of students used the baby dolls to set up a \"clinic\" in our classroom. They took turns being the doctor, nurse, and patient, showing so much kindness and teamwork as they cared for one another.\r\n\r\nThese resources are being used every single day, not only during playtime but as a foundation for our lessons. Through dramatic play, my students are learning to share, solve problems, and communicate with each other — all while having fun. The blocks and tinker toys have even inspired our current STEM project, where students are challenged to build bridges strong enough to hold toy cars. They proudly cheer each other on as their creations stand tall!\r\n\r\nYour support has given my first TK class the gift of play-based learning, and I am so grateful.
