When the incubator and supplies first arrived, they were immediately excited and curious. They couldn't wait to see what was going to happen inside those little eggs!\r\n\r\nThroughout the project, my students checked the eggs, observed changes, and used the eggscope to get a peek at the chicks developing inside. They practiced making observations, asking questions, making predictions, and using new vocabulary as we talked about what was happening. The excitement in our classroom grew each day as we waited for our chicks to arrive.\r\n\r\nAnd then... it happened! Five out of our six viable eggs hatched! Watching my students see the tiny chicks emerge was absolutely priceless. They were amazed that the little chicks they had been watching and talking about were now right in front of them. They loved observing the chicks, talking about their features, and helping with their care. It was a wonderful opportunity to teach them about responsibility, kindness, and caring for living things.\r\n\r\nOur chicks eventually moved on to their next adventure and are now living their best lives on another teacher's farm!\r\n\r\nThe best part is that this project won't end with this class. The incubator and supplies will continue to be used each spring, giving future TK students the same opportunity to experience the excitement of watching a chick develop and hatch. When the scooter boards arrived, my students could hardly contain their excitement. As soon as they saw them, they squealed with joy and immediately began asking when they could try them. It was such a fun moment to see their faces light up. Even now, the scooter boards continue to be one of the most popular choices during outside playtime.\r\n\r\nMy students use the scooter boards every week during recess as an outdoor choice. They love racing, scooting across the playground, and creating little obstacle paths with their friends. These simple moments of play are doing so much more than keeping them entertained. They're also building coordination, balance, and teamwork. I've loved watching students encourage each other, take turns, and celebrate when someone zooms by especially fast. The storage pole has also made it easy for us to keep everything organized and ready to go each day.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students have another meaningful way to stay active and engaged during their school day. As we move forward, we're excited to incorporate the scooter boards into more structured movement games and cooperative challenges that help students practice problem-solving and teamwork. We have been enjoying BrainPop so much in my classroom. This is such a wonderful resource for my students. We have watched various videos for math to help my students better understand difficult concepts (like fractions, measurement, and division concepts). \r\n We have also enjoyed using the videos to better understand what we are studying in history. Students get a lot more background knowledge to better understand different time periods. BrainPop does such a nice job visually explaining the concepts. Right now, as you see in the photos, we are studying the California Missions. My students were able to better grasp the overall timing of the missions so they can conduct more research for a project they are working on in class. \r\n We will continue using BrainPop to help with other subject areas throughout the year, including writing, reading, science and any other topics that come up. For many of them, these were the very first books they felt confident exploring on their own.\r\n\r\nSince adding these board books to our classroom, reading time has become one of the happiest parts of our day. Students cozy up with Eric Carle, giggle at the Pigeon books, practice counting with the math sets, and explore animals and nature through the National Geographic titles. I've watched students who were hesitant to pick up books suddenly choose reading during free choice. One student proudly announced, \"I can read it by myself!\" as he pointed to familiar words and pictures—a moment I'll never forget.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped me create a nurturing, literacy-rich environment for my youngest learners. These books are now used during morning soft starts, small group lessons, quiet corners, and even as calming tools when someone needs a moment to regroup. Our next steps include using the books for theme-based units and building early comprehension skills through picture walks and retelling activities.
