Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from low-income families that are of Hispanic and African-American descent. Most of the students speak two languages and struggle with the transitions between the languages. Some students can not afford basic school supplies, get a good night sleep, concentrate on their educational success due to home issues that some adults never have to think about.

It is my job to provide a safe and effective environment for a successful academic future.

I focus on each of my students' needs through small group and one on one work. It is my goal to keep students engaged and focused while in small groups. I have to be very creative with this due to our schools limited funding for extra materials. These materials would help my students stay focused and productive during their center time.

My Project

SuperScience Magazine from Scholastics is an incredible resource to support our Science curriculum. SuperScience has the students research, investigate, explore, and create. It will not only enrich our daily Science lesson, but it will relate to many other subjects, such as Reading and Math. SuperScience uses up-to-date real world stories and issues making it relevant to my students young, growing minds.

SuperScience will help create a new generation of curious minds that want to investigate and solve problems!

It will expose my students to concepts and ideas that they may not have read about or experienced before. Science is changing and growing every day. I want my students to keep up with Science and not get left behind!
