Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every day my students come in eager to learn to soak up all that's around them. They have a thirst for knowledge that motivates and inspires all who are around them. "If you can Dream it, you Can Do it" -Walt Disney
We are from a Title 1 school where 92% of students receive free and reduced lunch and 67 documented families are homeless.
Many of the children in our school come from a stressful home environment. School is their escape and safe home away from home. At our school we work hard to let children dream, hope, and work towards their future, knowing that mistakes sometimes leads to amazing success.
My Project
My students are on the path to be "Super Readers." With your donations we are looking forward to working with felt puppets to retell some of our favorite stories and fairy tales. Retelling and sequencing stories are the foundations for comprehension and writing, down the line.
Along with our puppets, we also can't wait to use the sight words mats and stamping letters to practice our words which help us read more adventurous books. We are also excited to read the new stories that go along with our kindergarten themes. Having rich and powerful books not only help our super readers stay focus, motivated but it also captivated their minds and help them dream big.
As well as reading books, we are interested in magazines. When we saw the Scholastic magazine "Let's Find Out" we all jumped for joy. Perfect for comprehension, foundational skills, science and even writing. An excellent resource on our level that will help us become super readers.
Your donations will inspire these kids to read, to bring a book to live by interacting with others and using magazines to learn and explore the world around them.
