My Students

I am a special education teacher, teaching students with dyslexia, ADD, specific reading disabilities, and autism to read. I use the direct instruction program SPIRE, a researched based program for students who are at-risk in reading--several grade levels below placement. I am in need of reading workbooks to send home with students during Covid to reinforce the reading skills and decoding rules we have been learning and mastering throughout the year. These workbooks help to reinforce and practice these skills in various formats. I am in need of a set of 4 at each grade level in order to meet the at home needs of my students.

My Project

My special education students often lack available resources in the home. They can have inconsistent attendance due to sickness and family difficulties. The more they can practice decoding skills, the better they will get. These fine researched materials will allow them to read at their optimal level of instruction without frustration of technology they may not be able to negotiate or understand. They have been taught the fundamental English rules necessary to successfully master the readers I am ordering, building confidence and life-long learning. I am excited to use them!
