We are a rural school in Idaho, also known as Home of the Stars. Teaching students to read and enjoy reading is a big focus for all of our classrooms. I have been teaching children to read for many years. I can teach them all the skills in the world, but if they aren't given plenty of time to practice what I teach, they have a difficult time becoming fluent readers.
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a popular reading program used in many schools.
AR helps teachers track students' independent practice and progress with reading. This license will give the students in our school an opportunity to read thousands of different books, take tests, and earn points. The children earn classroom parties or prizes with the points they accumulate. With video games and phones, most children need something to motivate them to read or they sadly don't do it. Our students take thousands of tests each year, and we have found that AR is the system that motivates them to read. They can read a variety of books from environmental science to fairy tales. Thank you for helping our school continue to gain access to this program.
