The students in my classroom are my superheroes! My students range in age, grade and abilities, all on the Autism Spectrum. The students within my classroom are Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. These students each overcome various obstacles on a daily basis. My heroes have intellectual, academic, social and communication difficulties in which they must conquer on a daily basis. These students are working on communicating with others, socializing throughout the school and being their own individual. My students are AU-some!
My Project
Can you imagine sitting in a classroom, knowing the answer to a question, but you are not able to communicate using your voice? How would you be able to answer the question? How could you make your lunch choice? How can you interact with your peers within the classroom? Technology in the classrooms is an imperative part of the students' success. The iPads are a hands on, tactile and easy way for my students with various fine motor skills to explore and succeed with technology. These iPads will allow my students that are non-verbal communicate with others, make their lunch choices and use various applications in order to interact with their peers within the classroom and throughout all social settings. These iPads will provide a means to allow all students to research real world opportunities and to provide an extended review to the material taught. The use of the iPads will provide my heroes with an opportunity to access the 21 century learning and communication. Each of my students require an opportunity to express themselves and through the technology this experience will be given!
