Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classes are filled with bright, energetic, fun-loving students. They have a lot of pride in their city and school even if they just moved here.
All of these students have learned English as their second language, and many of them are brand-new to this country.
However, language is not a barrier when they walk into my classroom. They know that they are loved and supported even if we don't say those words out loud.
Most of my students have not had any formal education in their first language. It is my job to make sure that they get the foundational English language skills that they need to catch up to their peers to grow and expand their knowledge from there.
My Project
My students are learning English as their second language. They need age-appropriate, engaging centers activities for their small group work stations.
These instant learning centers are engaging and allow for hands-on learning!
The centers cover various skills that my students needs in order to learn how to read. ESL students in kindergarten, first grade, and second grade will use these materials daily.
I have seen the excitement in students' eyes when I bring out a new center for them to work on. The Phonics Learning Locks will allow my students to engage with blends, digraphs, and vowel sounds! The Touch & Read Phonics Match - Complete Set and Vocabulary, Building Words, Writing, Rhyming Sounds, and Reading Comprehension Activity Stations are ready made activities where my students can get practice with those language and reading concepts.
These hands-on activities will give my students a sense of independence and ownership over their learning. Please consider giving to my wonderful students!
