My Students

One of the trademarks of my classroom, besides the vast array of superheroes, is my book collection! Already spanning two bookshelves, current and previous students are always checking to see what novels are available. They know they are always welcome to borrow a book and expand their knowledge.

Many of my students are avid readers, dedicated to learning more about the world around them, and share their love for reading a variety of genres.

Despite taking multiple IB/AP classes, many still find the time to work in reading books for fun. My school, located in Broward County, has many students on free and reduced lunch, and we've previously been classified as Title 1. Our teachers and administration are dedicated to providing students with the best education they can receive.

My Project

My students need a variety of books to read, including non-fiction and YA novels such as The Girl on the Train, Paperweight and Pushing the Limits. My students will be able to check out more books from my class library, which they can in turn use for projects in their English classes, share with their friends, etc. The non-fiction ones are great for their extended essays they write during the summer, to discuss in their other courses, etc. They would continue to learn about different writing styles/genres and subsections of American History.

I take pride in my class library; knowing students enjoy coming to see what books are on my shelves makes me happy.

I love that they are able to share their love of reading with both myself and their classmates. I don't have the money to update my library as often as I would like to; this project would enable me to keep it update and expand the genres I already have.
