This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students from Baltimore, Maryland are very special to me and eager to learn every day. I teach about 100 of the best 5th graders you will ever meet. Teaching in an urban environment, I often take on many roles outside of being their teacher. I take on the role of nurse, social worker, and in many cases, parent.

Many students come in to the school year not prepared with the necessary supplies to be successful.

My school is in the heart of Baltimore City where it exists in an urban environment and a low socioeconomic environment where many families are unable to obtain employment and therefore cannot provide the supports necessary for their children.

My students absolutely love learning and want to be successful in school. However, their lack of necessary supplies has prevented many of them from being successful.

My Project

All of my wonderfully awesome students are ready and willing to learn. However, their lack of supplies at times prevents them from exceeding their own expectations. This year we are starting a new curriculum which we are all really excited about. The downfall though is that they need binders to organize all of their materials.

My students need binders as well as binder dividers to organize all of their many thoughts and feelings about what they are about to read.

I have no doubt that with these wonderful materials my students will exceed everyone's expectations, including their own. They will use these binders to take notes, organize their materials and thinking, and work to writing. You never know, one of my fabulous students could be the next big author.
