This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am the media specialist at a small title 1 school. My annual budget for acquiring new books is very small. I usually am able to purchase 50-60 books per year for the entire school. The bulk of my annual budget is usually spent on these titles.

These new books are engaging and encourage my students to read a variety of titles.

Every year I have students who will read all 15 SSYRA books. They also encourage their friends to read and they buddy read the books together.

If I were to get this fiction book project funded it would allow me to spend funds on nonfiction titles and other types of books. Please help get these boks into the hands of my students.
