My students need some essential supplies to get them ready for the 2008-2009 school year including reams of different colored construction paper, white drawing paper, watercolor paper, a papercenter to store paper, wipe-board markers, stickers, a self-inking teacher stamp, 2 set of journals and photo-name plates.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach first grade to 19 students, one with special needs. I teach at a school where most of the kids are on free or reduced lunch. We are a project improvement school and due to recent budget cuts our school is low on "extra funds."
Most of my students come from lower income families. In September they do not come to school with backpacks full of supplies. They do not get a chance to go back-to-school shopping. They also do not have many supplies at home. Whatever they need to complete their work has to come from school. Our school provides the basic supplies... pencils, glue and writing paper.
It is up to the teachers to come up with money for "extra supplies" OR do without. I am asking for reams of construction paper to do fun art projects throughout the year.. Pumpkins, turkeys, X-mas trees, snowmen, hearts and so on. I am also asking for drawing and watercolor paper (to use when water coloring). The paper center would help organize the paper so that the kids could have easy access. I am also asking for journals that the kids can write in daily as well as stickers and stamps to reward their efforts in writing. The wipe board markers are to replenish the ones we already have. The kids use them to write math problems and spelling words on wipe boards, and they dry up quickly. The kids would be able to do fun activities. Without these supplies our art lessons would be limited.
Thank you so much for your consideration and looking over this proposal. If you fund this proposal you will be helping a class full of children have fun doing art projects as well as enjoy writing.
