My Project

Every year, I try to send my students into summer with a kit that will support their learning while allowing them to have fun. This year, I have selected items for the bags that will allow my students to nourish their bodies with healthy snacks: healthy fruit snacks to allow for a fun treat that won't add unnecessary sugar to their diets, and some healthier (and their favorite) healthy snack options that they've had access to for the duration of the school year. I've worked tirelessly this year in teaching my students about healthy snacking, putting nourishing ingredients in their bodies, and how to have sweets in moderation.

In addition, I also wanted to encourage fun without the support of technology.

To do that, I have added the card game "Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza," and the two sticker books as a way to promote indoor fun that isn't video or computer games. I've been working all year long to support my students in learning to monitor their screen time. I also selected a nonfiction Magic Treehouse book about Jackie Robinson, as he is someone that we spend an incredible amount of time learning about, and my class has expressed tremendous interest in continuing to learn about him. Thank you for supporting my students in their continued learning over the summer!
