I am a school counselor in a public, PreK-5 elementary school. The students at my school are a diverse group culturally, ethnically, and economically. I work primarily with students in grades 3 through 5, providing whole-class lessons and individual and small-group counseling sessions that address students' academic, social/personal, and career development needs.
At the end of the regular school year, as many as 100 of our students will participate in our week-long enrichment program.
We will involve students in teacher-led learning activities involving science, technology, arts, music, and P.E.
My Project
At the conclusion of the school year, we host a week-long summer enrichment program. This is a fun week and a favorite among our students. Students engage in teacher-led activities involving science, technology, music, arts and crafts, and sports and games. About 100 students come to our enrichment program each June. The week culminates with a musical program for parents and other relatives. Among other learning objectives this summer, students will learn how to and then create their own, individualized movie trailers based on a book they read together, and they will study and apply Newton's Laws to build the ultimate roller-coaster marble run.
This project will provide snacks for students attending the enrichment program, such as Sun Chips, Cheez-Its crackers, fruit snacks, and more.
We keep the students moving and learning throughout the day, so they need the extra energy that these snacks will provide before and after lunch. I am also requesting ink for our two printers in this project. Students will engage in technology projects during our summer camp that allow for a printed artifact, and the color and black ink will allow them to show some of the activities they've engaged in to family members at home.
