This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With the public's generous donations our school was able to purchase surveillance cameras to watch the beautiful metamorphic process of butterflies. When our school is in between purchasing new eggs we have created a terrarium using succulents and tropical plants. This is a perfect use for the space however, a terrarium requires care. Even though, it does not need to be watered often, it is necessary to keep the soil just moist enough so that the plants can continue to thrive.

The summer presents a challenge because the access to these plants are limited.

The purchase of a remote watering device would address this need. A science teacher would be able, via the app, trigger a steady water flow to the terrarium and, with the surveillance cameras already attached to the cart, monitor the condition of the plants. Two additional items are also added to the request to further inspire my students to explore the wonders of space and the history of space exploration.
