My Students
Pre-K for All is a program within the New York City Department of Education that provides all four-year-olds with full-day quality education. Pre-K for All gives children stronger reading and math skills.
My site is a Pre-K Center exclusively dedicated to Pre-K students.
We are located in Brooklyn and have a diverse population.
We have a center-based learning model. The students learn by engaging in purposeful play while teachers engage the students in meaningful conversations.
In my program, we like to provide lessons that are interactive so the children can learn by doing.
My Project
What is the summer slide? That is when students regress over the summer months. During the school year my students listen to at least one book a day. Many children do not have books at home and what is most concerning is that most libraries remain closed due to the pandemic.
I would like to provide each student in my class with books to read over the summer.
These books will be theirs to keep and will help them build a library at home. These books will help prepare them for a exciting time in their life, Kindergarten.
