This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a very small school in a very large urban community. My classroom is a bustling place of exploration and growth. My children are dreamers who love learning and are always looking to expand their knowledge. The inquiry process is alive and well in our cozy environment. We leave no question unanswered.
Unfortunately, we are in a high poverty area, and our budget does not always match our dreams.
There are so many things to do, and we just need a little help to be all that we can be
My Project
STEM programs are all the rage these days. I would love to be able to bring a high-quality robotics program to my school. I have been accepted into the Pathfinders Institute to attend the Junior Botball Challenge Program. It is a 5-day professional development program that will really have a lasting impact on my school.
The Junior Botball Challenge is a Computer Science (CS) focused education program that provides reusable robotics equipment, standards-aligned curriculum and professional development for elementary and middle school educators.
In the fall, the curriculum and tools I bring back will enable me to teach the students in my building computer science and computational thinking concepts along with hands-on STEM lessons.
