This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

For this summer school class, our middle schoolers will read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in either English or Spanish and have hands-on experiences making different kinds of chocolate treats. We will read the book chapter by chapter together. Students are engaging in the content of a good book. Our students are creative, thoughtful and ready to learn! They absolutely love reading and learning about new things. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are our inspiration!

With the baking supplies and English/Spanish books that I am requesting, students will read a chapter and then follow a recipe to make different chocolate treats each day.

The baking supplies will supplement the additional supplies that we must purchase locally. Our school is committed to providing its students with all the resources and experiences that are needed.

We are diverse with a very large group of language learners and are growing like crazy. Many students in our classrooms come to school with untapped or underdeveloped background knowledge due to language or opportunity. All children absolutely love learning, although their starting points and background knowledge may vary greatly.
