Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The summer holiday is the hardest time for our kindergarteners going into first grade. They have their first long break from school, regulation activities, and routines. Our students learn strategies throughout the school year on how to self-regulate but the long break in the summer challenges many of our students because of their home lives.
Help me give my students summer self-regulation buckets that have resources to help calm, regulate, and sustain positive mental health.
The buckets will contain calm breathing activities including pinwheels and bubbles to blow, fidgets to spin and breathe with, and gel balls to squeeze. The chalk helps calm kids and allows them to enjoy outdoors. The jump rope and beach ball help them be active. The students will learn how to use these buckets to calm down and be ready to regulate during their long summer holiday away from routine and what they know!
