My Project
Developing a love of reading early on is such an important part of a child's success. I read aloud, "The One and Only Ivan," to my third graders this spring, and they absolutely loved it. The book taught many hidden themes, including animal abuse and human cruelty, the importance of friendship and family, the value of self-expression, and the struggle between captivity and freedom. We laughed and cried throughout the story. They would be so incredibly SURPRISED with the sequel, "The One and Only Bob." Bob was one of their favorite characters in "The One and Only Ivan." I'm confident that the students would read this book this summer, and while doing so, stay active in their learning and learn more life lessons.
