This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like to go to the bookstore and get a book to take home?

My students are all in first grade, about to be off for their summer vacation.

Many of them do not have books of their own and it would be nice for them to leave for the summer with something to read. My school is located in West Harlem. I have 42 dual language students, learning both English and Spanish.

My Project

I am requesting two sets of books for the classroom. I have requested two books in Spanish (one for the boys and one for the girls). I have also requested one non-fiction book in English so that they can practice for their common core standards over the summer.

This project is extremely important to me.

I want all of my students to be able to have books of their own. Many of them also come from really large families, and they will be able to share them with their siblings.
