My Students
Students at our school are outstanding but two particular qualities stand out when I work with them in science, curiosity, and imagination.
First, my students' level of curiosity about the world around them drives them to ask intriguing questions and analyze the world as young scientists do.
Anytime a new insect or interesting animal come on our campus they also seek me out to ask questions about it. They love exploring nature, especially through our school gardens.
Secondly, my students have a vivid imagination and I want to harvest that spirit to that they can better see themselves as scientists. I strive for many of my students to go into careers in science.
My Project
In our science lab presently, our safety materials consist of gloves, goggles and some lab aprons. So this project would also significantly improve the status of our safety materials. With the coat racks, the lab coats will become a permanent fixture of our science lab and place where they can imagine themselves as scientists.
Lab coats will empower my elementary science students to feel more like young scientists.
By reflecting the what students see in adult scientists, the can more easily see themselves as scientists.
Students come through my science lab and garden all day and having a coat ready for them to explore science will make all the difference.
