My students need a variety of seating options such as Wobble Chairs, Comfy Floor Seats, Foam Cushions, Bench Storage Seating, etc. to live an active, healthy lifestyle while engaged in their work.

My Students

My school is in a collaborative and supportive community with students coming from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. My students are surrounded by supportive families in their community who are dedicated to making our children lifelong learners.

Our class is filled with 25 eager 1st graders who are ready to learn in all forms with a variety of engaging seating options.

At this age, students have a wide range of individual academic and personal needs to help them stay engaged and become successful learners. It is difficult for anyone to sit still for long periods of time, let alone a small first grade body excited to discover the world around them! My students will greatly benefit with a variety of awesome seating options, such as wobble chairs, comfy cushions for our floor seating tables, comfy floor chairs for our library nook, and extra benches for the children to sit on while they complete their work collaboratively with a partner.

Helping fund my project will enhance my student's learning and prepare them for the future!

My Project

When first introducing my students to flexible seating options this year, they were begging for more healthy and positive ways to release energy! My first graders are very active and continue to express their need for a healthy outlet throughout the day as we complete a variety of activities. Students in our class are provided a choice to where they want to sit for different activities and currently have 4 crate seats, a low sitting table, and bouncy chair balls. They absolutely love using these seating options and would benefit greatly from more choices. When discussing the benefits of these tools and how their drive and focus have improved since incorporating these alternative seating options into our learning, students and myself brainstormed more creative ways to allow a positive release of this energy without interrupting learning.

This kid-inspired project allows students to continue to be active and learn even while indoors!

These Flexible Seating options will help benefit my students in a variety of ways. As they collaborate with peers on a daily basis, students will be able to work on core muscle strength, stability, and maintaining a healthy and productive energy level as they balance on wobble chairs and enjoy moving around the room trying new seating options that are a good option for their brain and body.
