My Students

I am a third-year teacher this year and I have learned so much from my amazing 6th graders! I teach at a Title I school with students from many different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Despite having high poverty and low income as a common way of life for the majority of my students, they come to school ready to learn. I want to provide them with not only a stable environment but one filled with positive and rewarding experiences.

My Project

Instructional classroom audio creates better access to learning and overcomes physical barriers to listening for all students. When students hear every word, valuable teaching time is more productive for all. According to the Lightspeed website, the use of an instructional audio system results in, "43% less off-task behavior, 72% fewer teacher redirections, and 13% less teacher absenteeism". The benefits of a classroom audio system are endless.

Enhanced engagement, clear understanding of what is being said, elimination of voice strain, and the opportunity for students to be heard when speaking during class are just some of the many benefits that this instructional audio system allow.

I was introduced to this technology while student teaching and I fell in love. Teachers were able to easily clasp on the lanyard style microphone, while having their voice amplified throughout the entire room. I did not have to strain my voice to be heard and I was able to talk in a much quieter and calm voice, while being heard even clearer than before. This was also an AMAZING tool for when students needed to speak in front of their peers. Not only was it exciting to speak into a voice amplifier, but shy students were more confident and able to be heard by their fellow students. This is a must-have for every classroom!
