Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students ( especially immigrants) would greatly benefit from receiving Scholastic magazines at various reading levels. I teach 5th grade and have students reading at a kinder to sixth grade level. These magazines would appeal to all students and give them ownership of their learning. My students are always interested in seeing what is going on in the outside world and having these magazines would be a great way for them to explore current events independently.

Engaging students is key to meaningful learning and Scholastic magazines would provide this opportunity!

Scholastic magazines cover many science and social studies topics, increase vocabulary, and provide reading comprehension questions. These magazines would be versatile and are able to be used in whole class or small group lessons. They will also appeal to my English Language Learners because the online magazine component offers read aloud options in other languages. We are a border town and have a huge influx of immigrants this year.
